Our Story

Three sisters.
One quiet conviction.

Origin

Taru Aroha was founded by three sisters who spent decades in corporate life, and who, somewhere along the way, developed an acute sensitivity to what things are made of, and what they cost the world.

When we stepped back from our careers, we did not want to step away from making something. We wanted to make something better.

The Name

Taru Aroha - love for plants.

The name draws from te reo Māori: taru meaning plant or root, aroha meaning love and compassion. It is a name that does not require translation - it simply asks you to feel what it means.

We chose it because it says everything about where we begin: with the earth, and with care.

Our Approach

Quiet luxury is not a trend. It is a position.

We do not use eco-badges or bold proclamations. We believe that the quality of a thing - its texture, weight, longevity - should do the speaking. Our sustainability is structural, not cosmetic.

Tribhagini LLP, the parent company behind Taru Aroha, is ISO 14001:2015 certified. We also provide design and manufacturing services to other brands who share our values. The same rigour applies throughout.

"Conscious is the new luxury."
